Officer Alyn Beck

Officer Alyn Beck was shot and killed while eating lunch with fellow Officer Igor Soldo, whom also died in the shooting. Officer Beck (41) was a senior patrol officer who joined the Metropolitan Police Department in 2001. Soon before his death, he had interviewed and tested for promotion to sergeant and was expected to pass with ease. He had a passion for training and many of his response tactics that he taught in his department are used across the US today. He is survived by his wife and 11-year old daughter.

Officer Igor Soldo

Officer Igor Soldo was shot and killed while eating lunch with fellow Officer Alyn Beck, whom also died in the shooting. Officer Soldo (31) was a part-time correction officer for three years in Lincoln, Nebraska, before moving to Las Vegas and joining the department in 2006. His fellow officers remember him as having an impressive memory when it came to recalling statues or case law. He is survived by his wife and infant son.

Officer David Vanbuskirk

Officer David Vanbuskirk died Monday, July 22nd, after falling during a night time aerial rescue of a stranded hiker. Officer Vanbuskirk was 36 years old. He served with the LVMPD for 13 years.

Officer James Manor

Officer James Manor

Officer James Manor died in the line of duty on Thursday, May 7, 2009. He was killed in an accident while responding to a domestic violence call. Officer Manor had served with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for two years. He is survived by his daughter.

Officer Trevor Nettleton

Officer Trevor Nettleton was shot and killed after being confronted by several robbery suspects in his garage. Officer Nettleton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for three years. He is survived by his wife, two-year-old son, two-month-old daughter, parents, and his brother who is currently serving in Iraq.

Officer Milburn Beitel

Officer Milburn "Millie" Beitel died in the line of duty on Thursday, October 8th, 2009. He was 30 years old and had been with Metro for five years. He passed away around 1:30 a.m., following surgery at UMC. The patrol car he and his partner, Officer David W. Nesheiwat, were riding in was involved in an accident.

Correctional Officer Daniel Leach was killed in an automobile accident on U.S. 95, near Searchlight, at approximately 5:45 am. He was driving a prisoner transport van to the Tucker Holding Facility to pickup prisoners when the vehicle collided with a semi truck that pulled into his path from a side street.
